Introduction:

In the field of physical education, wellness is the one that has an important role in the process of the holistic development.

From creating physical fitness to imparting mental health wellness extends through several branches.

This article delimits what wellness means in the world of the physical education- it illustrates both its significance and its repercussions. 

What is Wellness?

Wellness in the context of physical education means the state of the best possible health and well-being in all the dimensions, namely the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual ones.

This concept goes much more than absence of illness and imply a life of balance and completeness.

Physical Wellness - Physical health is the idea of a healthy body which is achieved by the regular exercise, right diet, enough sleep, and the avoidance of harmful recreation such as smoking and excessive drinking of alcohol.

At the beginning, the mission of physical education is to the physical health of the body where it is the maximization of your muscle strength, flexibility, and endurance through the organized activities or exercises. 

Mental Wellness - Mental health drives the development of creative and productive potential of people.  In particular, the mental health may be defined as a competence to think positively, experience emotions naturally and cope with stress better.

Mental health impacts of physical exercises like yoga, mindfulness practices and relaxation techniques are vital.  Students will manage stress and cope with emotional issues. 

Emotional Wellness - Here emotional wellness is a situation in which one knows his/her emotions and is able to control them well and more to that, a person develops and maintains a good relationship with people close to him/her.

In general, physical education programs deal with group sports, team activities and the other exercise intends to help students to gain Emotional Intelligence and resilience.  These activities take all the students hearts as a place of studying. 

Social Wellness - Social prosperity is a term that refers to the state of an individual's sense of being in a community or having relationships with like-minded people. Concerning the physical education, students will get the social skills, the capability of working as a team and the empathy towards their teammates by the use of group and team sports.

Spiritual Wellness - Spiritual wellness means being able to be true to one and one believe in the universe along with experience the inner peace.

This mostly can be achieved by means of finding deep inner meaning that comes from both personal values and philosophy. Although maybe not always the focal point of a physical education curriculum but things such as outdoor adventures, journaling, and community service can be a great help to the well-being of the people. 

Importance of Wellness in Physical Education:

Healthy Body and Mind Integration into Physical Education Curriculum gives lots of advantages to students.

It teaches healthy habits of lifestyle which ultimately leads to better scholastic performance, reduction of stress, elevation of self-esteem, development of social networks, and promotion of a holistic, pleasing life.

Consequently, a holistic approach to physical education gives students the skills and basis that they can carry on in the future and that enable them to make better choices, resulting in healthy and happy living

Challenges and Considerations:

Although the wellness is of paramount importance in the physical education, some obstacles are encountered in its application.

The practical ones could be lack of materials, time deficit, other topics over yours in the curriculum and the level of motivationj

The wellness agenda which is incorporated in the curriculum plus a holistic approach to physical education adoptable by teachers will be a boost for students to lead healthy, happy lives and a stimulus to their all rounded development.
